Tolentino wants "three-gives payment" for utility bills

In the midst of covid-19 pandemic administration Senator Francis "Tol" Tolentino has filed a measure aiming to provide installment payment for electric, water and telephone bills during a state of calamity.

Tolentino's Senate Bill No. 1473, to be known as "Three-Gives Law", pushes for a scheme of three installment payments on all amounts which fall due in the midst of enhanced community quarantine and other times of disasters and emergencies.

The lawmaker underscored that passing this bill is necessary to ease the burden of filipinos who are grappling to survive the daily challenges of life posed by the pandemic.

"It is the intent of this measure to uphold the general welfare of the people and to assist their economic well-being immediately after the occurrence of natural or man-made calamities or health epidemic," Tolentino said in his measure.

"Malaki ang maitutulong nito sa mga kababayan natin na lubhang naapektuhan ng COVID-19, lalo na iyong mga nawalan ng hanapbuhay at pagkakakitaan," he added.

The government recently ordered the moratorium on payment of electric, water, telephone and other bills amid the declaration of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
