GRACE POE's MANIFESTATION TRANSCRIPT

Sen. Grace Poe: I'd like to be made co-author, with the indulgence of the sponsor. To recognize our awardees today, I'd like to mention them again as a tribute, one by one: David Almirol Jr., Mayor Vico Sotto, Edgar Elago, George Royeca, Atty. Lesley Cordero, Raymond Sarmiento and Ron Villarosa Jr. All of them have succeeded in diverse fields, all of them have impressive credentials. They have gone through obstacles but the commonality among all of them, most especially, is community service and what they have contributed for the greater good.

...We'll we've already given tribute to Mayor Vico. So, I would like to cite in particular two of those who I know personally. The first is, of course it's Women's Day, I'd like to acknowledge and congratulate Atty. Lesley Cordero. I remember her as being very organized, very intelligent and whenever she would write a document or letter, it was so well-written and I was so impressed. And I had a chance to work with her, although briefly, when I was chairperson of MTRCB.

I would also, as chairperson of the committee on public services which deals with transportation, hats off to George Royeca because I know he has gone through so many obstacles because of our government bureaucracy. He was able to wade through them and pushed for the concept of Angkas, a ride-sharing that has provided jobs for thousands of our countrymen. And not only provide jobs but he has also done many volunteer work as cited earlier by Senator Gordon, the latest one is with the Red Cross. Not only has he provided jobs, he has also filled a void in our lack of transport options. And I know that George is still going through a lot of challenges, articulating to our bureaucrats the importance of this service. We would like you to know that we are behind you in providing jobs and a safe and responsible mode of transportation for our countrymen. To all of our awardees, maraming salamat sa inyong ehemplo at inspirasyon. Mabuhay kayong lahat.
