On Labor Day, Bong Go acknowledges the sacrifices of Filipino workers amid the pandemic as he assures them of continuing government support towards economic recovery

As the country commemorates Labor Day on the first day of May, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go recognized the determination and tenacity of Filipinos workers who continue to make sacrifices to secure the future of their families despite the pandemic.

Go assured that the government continues to do its best to promote their welfare, especially amid these trying times. He also urged employers to prioritize their employees given the adverse socio-economic impact of the pandemic on their lives.

Mabuhay ang manggagawang Pilipino!," he said further.

Go, who is a member of the Senate Committee on Labor, also vowed to continue to push for measures that can promote the swift economic recovery of the country for the benefit of Filipino workers.

In the course of the pandemic, the Senator has made numerous successful appeals to guarantee protection for workers and vulnerable sectors adversely impacted by community quarantine restrictions to fight COVID-19.

Throughout the ongoing health crisis, Go has pushed for key interventions to help workers cope with the challenges. Some of them include the implementation of Social Amelioration Program, Small Business Wage Subsidy Program, Supplemental Amelioration Program, moratorium on electricity bills, rent and bank loans, and the passage of Bayanihan 1 and 2 laws.

As the national vaccination program makes headway, he assured that essential workers in the A4 category will be prioritized for vaccination after that of medical frontliners, senior citizens, and those with comorbidities.

"Habang patuloy na dumarating na ang mga dagdag na mga bakuna, siguraduhin din natin na mabibigyan ng prayoridad ang ating mga manggagawa, lalo na iyong maituturing nating 'essential work force', upang ligtas silang makapagtrabaho muli," he said.

Go has also successfully appealed on behalf of workers considered as part of essential sectors to be vaccinated under the A4 category such as those from news media, Philippine Regulation Commission frontliners, market vendors, transport sectors, seafarers and overseas Filipino workers to be deployed soon, among others.

Mabuhay po kayo!" he ended.
