Senate Congratulates JIL on its 43rd anniversary

The Senate adopted a resolution recognizing and congratulating Jesus is Lord (JIL) Church for celebrating its 43rd founding anniversary, Monday, September 27, 2021.

Senate Resolution No. (SRN) 915 introduced by Sen. Sonny Angara was adopted by a unanimous vote. JIL will celebrate its 43rd anniversary on October 23, 2021 with the theme "God's triumphant Hope".

Angara said JIL's theme for this year is very fitting because the church fulfilled a very special role which is to provide hope amidst the despair and suffering caused by the pandemic.

"The JIL Church, consistent with its mission, continues to bring all peoples to the kingdom of the living God regardless of race, status, belief and religious affiliations through the saving, healing, delivering, and transforming power of the Lord Jesus Christ," the resolution stated.

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel "Migz" F. Zubiri praised JIL leader Bro. Eddie Villanueva and his son, Sen. Joel Villanueva, for doing a "wonderful work of God" including the outreach program of JIL that benefited even the non-members of the congregation.

"It's not about words, but it's about deeds and I must say that the JIL community really do all their work because of the love of God in their hearts. They want to truly share their blessings to all the people of the Philippines and around the world," Zubiri said.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, for his part, said JIL movement has been a respected institution because of the leadership shown by its founder who is currently a deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.

"JIL and Bro. Eddie are one of the most principled organizations and individuals I have met in my life. They are unbending when it comes to the moral standards that we should observe. They are unbending when it comes to family values that every Filipino should observe," Drilon added.

Sen. Richard Gordon also congratulated Villanueva and the JIL movement, noting that he always supported the JIL leader in his position in so far as God is concerned.

Sen. Pia Cayetano expressed her appreciation for what the movement has done for the Filipinos and for people in other parts of the world.

"We may have so many different religions and so many different cultural beliefs. But fundamental to all these are our desire to raise our children in fear of God, to be loving neighbors, to reach out to those who need a helping hand," she said.

Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan expressed his support for the passage of SRN 915, adding that he admire the tenacity and passion of Villanueva in championing the cause of JIL, a champion of the Christian faith.

Sen. Grace Poe described Villanueva as a healing type of leader who always stands by the truth and remained steadfast in his beliefs.

Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto as well as Senators Cynthia Villar, Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa and Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., also expressed their support for SRN 915 and signified that they be made co-sponsors of the measure, together with all the senators.
