MANIFESTATION OF SENATOR RISA HONTIVEROS ON SOLO PARENTS BILL
Vote on Third Reading
December 13, 2021

Mr. President, just a brief manifestation.

The Senate has come together lift up an invisible and marginalized segment of our population: ang mga solo parents.

Dear colleagues, I have not just born witness to the difficulties and travails of solo parents, I have actually lived them. I became a solo parent after my husband suddenly passed away, with my youngest Sinta just three years old.

To my fellow Senators, especially the bill's co-authors, I thank you. To the government agencies that helped refine this bill, my heartfelt appreciation. And to all my fellow solo parents, I see you, I am you. This is for us.
