Villar leads 'veggies planting' to observe Women's Month

Through planting of vegetables, Sen. Cynthia A. Villar led the celebration of Women's Month in her hometown Las Pinas City.

The senator, chairperson of the Senate committee on Agriculture and Food, was joined by the officers and members of Kapisanan ng mga Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) of Barangay Pilar, and the city's officers of various homeowners associations and senior citizens groups, among others.

The gardening event, entitled "Wastong Pagtatanim ng Gulay Para sa Mga Ilaw ng Tahanan," was hosted by Villar in an open space in Camella Homes Classic, Bgy. Pilar.

It was held together with rhe senator's training partner on urban gardening- Ms. Melanie Cruz, Technical Training Specialist of East West Seeds Foundation.

At least 100 women participated in the hands-on and lecture activity to boost food production. Topics included health and nutrition, rights of children and budget management.

In her speech, Villar cited the need for everyone to find ways to lower our daily expenses with the continuing spikes in oil prices.

"And planting vegetables and maintaining community gardens are ways to save on our expenses while giving nutritious foods to our loved ones," she said.

She also cited the need form "Sipag at Tiyaga" coupled with resourcefulness to cope up with the difficult times and "we- women would guide our family to achieve these.

The senator related that March is celebrated as Women's Month inorder to acknowledge the important role of women in a family and theirsignificant contributions to nation-building.

"Tinatawag taying mga ilaw ng tahanan dahil tayo ang nag bibigay ng direksyong sa ating mga anak, sa ating pamilya, at sa iba pa nating mahal sa buhay," further stated Villar.


Villar, pinangunahan ang pagtatanim ng gulay sa pagdiriwang ng Women's Month

Sa pamamagitan ng pagtatanim ng gulay, pinangunahan ni Sen. Cynthia A. Villar ang pagdiriwang ng Women's Month sa kanyang bayang Las Pinas City.

Sinamahan ang senador, chairperson ng Senate committee on Agriculture and Food, ng mga opisyal at kawani ng Kapisanan ng mga Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) ng Barangay Pilar, at ng mga opisyal ng homeowners associations at senior citizens groups sa Las Pinas.

Itinaguyod ni Villar ang gardening event, na may temang "Wastong Pagtatanim ng Gulay Para sa Mga Ilaw ng Tahanan," sa open space ng Camella Homes Classic, Bgy. Pilar.

Isinagawa ito ng senador kasama ang kanyang training partner sa urban gardening na si Melanie Cruz, Technical Training Specialist ng East West Seeds Foundation.

May 100 kababaihan ang lumahok sa hands-on at lecture activity upang paigtingin ang food production. Kabilang sa paksang tinalakay ang kalusugan at nutrisyon, karaoatan ng mga bata at budget management.

Sa kanyang speech, sinabi ni Villar na kailangan ang diskarte para mapababa ang araw-araw na gastos sa pagkain sa kabila ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng langis.

"And planting vegetables and maintaining community gardens are ways to save on our expenses while giving nutritious foods to our loved ones," ayon kay Villar.

Binanggit din niya na kailangan ang "Sipag at Tiyaga" kasama ang pagiging malikhain upang harapin ang hirap ng panahon.

"We- women would guide our family to achieve these," giit ni Villar.

Inihayag ng senador na ipinagdiriwang ang Marso bilang Women's Month upang kilalanin ang mahalagang papel ng mga kababaihan sa pamilya at ang kanilang natatanging kontriubusyon sa nation-building.

"Tinatawag tayong mga ilaw ng tahanan dahil tayo ang nag bibigay ng direksyong sa ating mga anak, sa ating pamilya, at sa iba pa nating mahal sa buhay," sabi pa ni Villar.
