STATEMENT OF SEN. WIN GATCHALIAN ON THE LACK OF SANITATION, WATER ACCESS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Having adequate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities in our public schools should never be treated as optional. They are fundamental to the health, dignity, and safety of our learners. EDCOM II, in its Year Two Report, revealed a disturbing reality: over 1,000 Last Mile Schools still do not have toilets. We need to identify these schools.

This is unacceptable in a country that values education as a fundamental right. Hindi natin dapat hayaang maging normal ang kawalan ng tubig at pasilidad para sa kalinisan sa ating mga paaralan.
