Counter-insurgency efforts in last six months of Duterte admin: Sen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa commends on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for their efforts in fighting members of the New People's Army as ordered and supported by President Duterte and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). During the deliberation of the Commission on Appointments' Committee on National Defense on the appointments of key military officials, Dela Rosa, former chief of the Philippine National Police, sought assurance that the Duterte administration's anti-insurgency efforts would remain on track in its last six months. AFP chief of staff Gen. Andres Centino reported that just last year, they saw a "very significant increase in our operational successes" in terms of neutralization of alleged rebels and guerilla fronts, and clearing of barangays from the influence of communist insurgents. "I would like heartily to congratulate you for your efforts," Dela Rosa told the AFP. (Screengrab/Senate PRIB)
