A true friend with genuine concern for Filipinos: Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito, during Tuesday’s session July 27, 2022, expresses his deepest sympathies to the people of Japan and the family of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who was assassinated in Nara, Japan last July 8. Ejercito recalled that during the 17th Congress, when he was the one defending most of the Build, Build, Build program under the Department of Transportation of the Duterte administration, he was privileged to be included in most of the presidential trips of President Duterte and the working visits to Japan. Ejercito said that in one of those meetings and dinners, it was Abe himself who announced that Japan will undertake the North-South Commuter Line Project that spans from Calamba, Metro Manila and Clark, which is now ongoing; the North Line from Clark going up to Ilocandia; and the Manila Subway System. “And I have also mentioned that we owe so much to this person. He is really a true friend with a genuine concern for the Filipino people,” Ejercito said in his speech. Ejercito is a co-sponsor of a resolution expressing the profound sympathy and sincere condolences of the Senate on the death of Abe. “Arigato gozaimasu, Shinzo Abe Thank you very much, Shinzo Abe)!” he added.
