Cayetano lauds Abe: Sen. Pia Cayetano expresses her admiration for former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during the plenary session Wednesday, July 27, 2022. The Senate adopted a resolution expressing its sympathy and condolences on the death of Abe who was gunned down in Nara, Japan last July 8. Cayetano said she first heard the word womenomics from Abe, whose objective was to boost economic growth through reforms and policies by encouraging the participation and advancement of women in the Japanese workforce. Over the years, she said, Abe adopted key policies and incentives to support women empowerment and their participation in the Japanese economy. Cayetano said Abe also laid policies to promote friendship and support in sports. She said the Philippines and Japan shared a deep friendship under the leadership of Abe. (Voltaire F.
