Great statesman with tangible contributions to Filipinos: Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara hails the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who contributed a lot which made tangible benefits in the lives of every Filipinos. Angara, who asked to be co-author of a resolution expressing the profound sympathy and sincere condolences of the Senate on the death of Abe, cited Japan’s infrastructure projects in the province of Aurora such as the provincial hospital and the 100-kilometer Baler (Aurora)-Pantabangan (Nueva Ecija) road which bring tangible benefits in terms of shipment of goods and accessibility to tourists. “We acknowledge his role as one of the world's great statesmen, along with the likes of Germany's Angela Merkel, who presided over their Parliament of their country for close to a decade and provided stability, which we often take for granted and which right now, we don't have in the world today. Maybe because we need more statesmen like Prime Minister Shinzo,” Angara said. (Voltaire F. Domingo/Senate PRIB)
