Time for urgent action: Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda joins her colleagues in emphasizing the need to have an efficient and safe railway system in the country as she called on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to seriously look into the matter. Legarda, in a plenary session Tuesday, August 9, 2022, noted that there had been talks about having an efficient railway system during her first term in the Senate in 1998 and it is still being discussed to date. Legarda expressed belief that the time for talks is over; it is time for urgent action toward having an efficient and sustainable mass transport system. “I thank the gentleman for bringing it to our urgent attention and we will support any intervention and I hope the present head of the DOTr would seriously look into this” Legarda added.
