Bring specialty hospitals closer to people: Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” T. Go presides over the Committee on Health’s hybrid hearing Tuesday, October 11, 2022 tackling several bills for the establishment of "specialty hospitals" in the country. In his opening remarks, Go said he wanted to give priority to the establishment of more specialty hospitals for the benefit and welfare of Filipinos, especially for the poorest of the poor. He also introduced the creation of more "super health centers" in the provinces which will be strategically placed in far-flung areas. “I noticed that most of our countrymen need to travel 200 kilometers away or several hours just to go to the hospital, especially during emergency cases. Specialty hospitals need to be brought closer to our fellow Filipinos as we bring government services closer to them,” Go pointed out. At present, specialty hospitals are located mostly in Metro Manila such as The Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute.
