Pia raises sustainability issues in BSP's use of polymer for PH banknotes: Senator Pia Cayetano raised sustainability issues in the use of polymer, instead of abaca, for the new generation banknotes of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The fact remains that polymer is non-biodegradable, Cayetano said, while also citing the impact of BSP's decision on the livelihood of local abaca farmers.
