Technology for real-time election results: Sen. Francis “Tol” Tolentino, while relating the development in the US midterm elections, urges the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to consider the technology that will allow real-time election results. At the continuation of budget deliberations Monday, November 14, 2022, Tolentino said the US elections show the interlink between the media and the election results. “It probably, Mr. President, behooves upon the Commission on Elections to have this technology, however that technology would evolve within the next three years, the next six years, linking social media, mainstream media, with whatever technology Comelec would have within the next few election cycles,” Tolentino said. He also expressed support for the approval of the P6.48-billion budget of the poll body for fiscal year 2023 especially because of the approaching barangay elections, which he said, will be “the showcase of what the Comelec administration can do and should do.” (Bibo Nueva Espana/ Senate PRIB) |
