Recognizing Cardinal David: Sen. Joel Villanueva takes the privilege to recognize the newly hailed Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David who humbly received and wore his red hat with honor and dignity last Saturday, December 7 at the Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome. “Cardinal David is a man who lives by God’s word. He is deeply convinced of the Christian doctrine, so much so that he has dedicated his life to making it known to his country. The faithful minister from the Diocese of Kalookan is a great example of a Christian and servant-leader who always reflects on the question, “What would Jesus do?” This is evident in the way he lives his life with willing acceptance of his calling as God’s servant and shepherd of people, standing firm and advocating for the rights of the members of his community,” Villanueva said in his co-sponsorship speech Tuesday, December 10, 2024, on Senate Resolution No. 1247 commending the appointment of David as the new cardinal of the catholic church. “Throughout his ministry as a bishop, Cardinal David has consistently prioritized God and his responsibilities to the church. Now, as he embraces a new role, may he continue to live a life of faith and be an exceptional steward of the mission God has placed in his heart,” he added.
