Fostering ties with Cambodia: On Tuesday, 11 February 2025, Senate President Francis Chiz G. Escudero received the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, His Excellency Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, who is on an Official Visit to the Philippines. The Senate President was joined by Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri, JV Ejercito, Joel Villanueva, Robinhood Padilla, and Mark Villar. Discussions centered on advancing cooperation on agriculture, particularly on the rice trade; education, especially on technical and vocational training; tourism with more frequent air routes; investments; as well as in combatting transnational crimes, particularly the trafficking of women. This year, 2025, marks the 68th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Cambodia as both sides agreed that our relations should be founded on stronger people-to-people ties. The Senators also expressed their appreciation to the Cambodian Government for the hospitality extended to more than 7,000 Filipino migrant workers and residents in Cambodia. The Philippines looks forward to stronger, deeper, and broader bilateral ties between our two countries leading up to the 70th anniversary of our relations come 2027, and beyond.
