Retooling, upskilling employees: Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero assures Senate employees that they will not be adversely affected by the proposed Optimization or Right-Sizing Bill. Speaking at the commendation ceremony for civil service, bar, and board passers on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Escudero said no employee will be terminated or laid off from their current positions. In fact, he said the Senate plans to create additional positions to meet the requirements of its forthcoming relocation to the new building in Taguig. “No one will be removed from their current position. We will establish new offices and will require additional competencies when we move to a larger building. That is why it is so important that you have all succeeded in passing your exams or board,” Escudero told employees in Filipino. The Senate President underscored the importance of retooling, upskilling, and acquiring new skills among employees. He assured casual employees that they would be prioritized for available and newly created positions. A priority measure of the administration, the rightsizing with optimization bill is intended to minimize redundancies, eliminate functions that are teeming with duplications, and simplify rules, regulations and processes.
