Immediate deportation of former POGO workers: Sen. Raffy T. Tulfo wants all former employees of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) to be deported or sent to their respective countries immediately as he urges all law enforcement agencies to help in eradicating the remaining guerrilla-type of POGO operations in the country. During Thursday’s hearing, February 13, 2025 of the Committee on Games and Amusement, Tulfo asked the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) an update on all POGO operations in the country after the President’s deadline on December 31, 2024 expired. “PAGCOR, what is your plan, what is your game plan regarding this to totally send home the former POGO workers because they don’t have a place in our society. Their job is over, because if they stick around, these POGO workers will be engaged in different kinds of crimes,” Tulfo said. According to PAGCOR, there are 42 internet gaming licensees (IGL), seven content providers, and 11 support providers whose operations were already shut down after the deadline. And, as of August 2024, there are a total of 58,181 Filipino POGO employees and 30,144 foreign workers. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau) |
