File charges vs officials for favoring vape industry: Sen. Pia Cayetano, a staunch health advocate, recommends the filing of appropriate charges against officials who might have committed corrupt practices for favoring the vape industry. Cayetano made the recommendation Wednesday, June 11, 2025 based on her findings on the Dirty Ashtray Award conferred to the Philippine delegation who attended the 10th Conference of the Parties (COP 10) of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) in Panama last year. The lady senator also raised her concerns over the huge number of delegates and urged the Commission on Audit to audit all expenses, whether public or private, related to the trip. She noted a need to re-establish the health department leadership in future negotiations and recommended urgent amendments to Republic Act 11900, otherwise known as the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act, among others.
