LACSON: MAY POLLS BEST CHANCE TO
STOP GLORIAS PIGGERY BUSINESS

The May 14 elections will be the Filipinos' best chance to stop the Arroyo government from making a "piggery" business out of the government, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Saturday night.

In a message he delivered to The Young Men of De Molay in Manila Saturday evening, Lacson reminded voters that unlike some corrupt officials, they are not pigs who wallow in their own stink or in their own garbage.

"Walang nambababoy kung walang nagpapababoy (Nobody can make pigs of us if we don't allow them to). In May this year, we have an opportunity to set right what was wrong in 2004. Huwag na tayo uli magpababoy (Let's not allow others to make pigs out of us again)," Lacson said.

Lacson said a candidate, even if he has the best credentials, cannot lead if he cannot be an example of integrity in character. Such a candidate does not deserve the benefit of the doubt of the voters in the coming May election, he said.

What is worse, he said, is for our people to simply give up and allow the administration to make a piggery business out of government.

On the other hand, Lacson called on the opposition to close ranks and not allow itself to be gobbled up by the administration through its deceptive move of forming the so-called unity ticket.

He cited the case of former Sen. John Osmea, who joined the administration K-4 coalitions senatorial slate in 2004 but was eventually neglected and junked in the middle of the campaign.

"Gullibility is the favorite dish of deception. Avoid suffering the fate of former Sen. John Osmea. He lost when he was eventually junked by the administration after joining their ticket in the 2004 elections," Lacson said.

Lacson reminded his colleagues in the opposition that 2007 is a banner year for the them, owing to the growing hatred and distrust of the Filipino people towards Mrs. Arroyo and her corrupt government.

"We only have ourselves to blame if the administration is able to put up a credible lineup. Our disunity will provide the only lifeline to an already lifeless administration senatorial ticket." He said.
