Kiko on the decision to run INDEPENDENT

This decision comes at a time when our people bear witness to a period of disenchantment. We must collectively find a way to transform widespread public disenchantment. With this decision to run independent, I place the future of my political life in the hands of our people, and trust that they will come out and support worthy candidates who may otherwise be saddled by a lack of a formidable and moneyed machinery but have a commitment to genuine change and reforms in our politics and political leadership. I pray that our message succeeds in resonating with the people and leads to an outpouring of support to reject 'politics as usual' and to usher in a new kind of politics for our nation. I call on the media, our citizens, the youth, civic organizations, the religious groups, to actively participate in the coming elections, to make their voice heard, not only on election day, but from day one of the campaign, so that those in the corridors of power will witness and see, that the real power in our country does not lie in their hands, but lies in the giving and willing hands of a united, vigilant and determined Filipino people. This is a leap of faith in our people. The future of my political life I now leave in the hands of our people and the Almighty God. In the end, it is the people in their numbers, who will either embrace my candidacy or reject it. We need to believe that the people will choose what is right.
