ABIDE BY COMELEC GUIDELINES ON CAMPAIGN MATERIALS,
LACSON INSTRUCTS SUPPORTERS

Saying he wants to set a good example to his supporters, re-electionist Sen. Panfilo Lacson led his supporters Friday in dismantling posters placed outside common poster areas designated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Lacson also instructed his supporters to abide by the guidelines after his camp received the official Comelec guidelines on common poster areas last Feb. 14.

"Now that the Comelec has issued clear guidelines on the matter, I gave Chairman Benjamin Sr. Abalos my personal assurance that all of my supporters will follow the guidelines set by the Comelec," he said.

He added that this is the proper way to start a campaign not only for a senatorial seat but also for honest and clean elections.

Also, he said he expects his instructions to his supporters to trickle down all the way to the grassroots level.

Lacson added he plans to personally lead the removal of the illegally posted campaign materials so he can display "leadership by example," one of his main advocacies, to his supporters.

"If we really want honest and clean elections, this is the way to go. We must abide by the rules instead of bending the rules," he said.

The Comelec had lamented earlier the proliferation of campaign materials outside the "common poster areas" reserved for such resources.
