VILLAR VISITS NEIGHBORHOOD IN TONDO
WHERE HE SPENT HIS CHILDHOOD DAYS

Mr. Sipag at Tiyaga, Senate President Manny Villar devoted the whole morning of today (March 19) at Pritil Market along Juan Luna Street in Tondo, Manila which is near his familys old house in Moriones.

Being born and raised in Tondo, Villar is warmly received in Pritil where some market people still remember his family. The market vendors could not believe that Mr. Sipag at Tiyaga is very much at home in the wet markets which he visits during his campaign sorties.

According to Villar, Its good to revisit old places that are memorable to me. I have been to Divisoria Market where my Nanay Curing and I used to sell shrimps. I have likewise visited the fishport in Navotas where we used to buy the shrimps and fish that we sell.

I have been to my mothers hometown of Bataan a couple of weeks ago as well. And I am looking forward to going Iloilo, my late fathers hometown. It brings back warm memories especially when people would approach me and tell me that they know me and my family from way back, adds Villar.

Villar, at around eleven years old, was his mothers helper in selling seafood at Divisoria Market. As the eldest boy in the family, I took it upon myself to help my mother. Our earnings in the palengke sent me and my brothers and sisters to school. In college, I was a working student, cites Villar.
