KIKO: AN APPEAL TO CALL CENTER COMPANIES

We appeal to the management of call center companies for understanding. I call on these companies to allow their agents and managers to work in shifts on May 14 to give them ample time to vote. Many from the youth sector work as call center agents and it would be unfortunate if they would not be able to vote because of stringent shifting schedules.

During the last elections, around 13 million voters were within the ages 18-24 years old and 4.9 million of them were first time voters. Minsan lang sa tatlong taon tayo nabibigyan ng karapatang bumoto at baguhin ang direksyon ng pamamahala sa pamamagitan ng paghalal ng ating mga lider. Suffrage is important in a democracy and we should not afford to lose millions of votes, especially from the youth sector.

Consequently, the government and COMELEC should work towards an equitable long-term solution to this dilemma.
