Statement of Senator MAR ROXAS on Call for Special Session

"I support the call of my colleagues for a special session. This would enable our two chambers to pass the affordable medicines bill that the House of Representatives was unable to finish due to lack of quorum. We must do what is right for the people."

"I am confident that there are well-meaning members of the Lower House who also believe in and support the need to cut the costs of medicines."

"Rather than blaming each other, both chambers can agree to pass not only the health bill but also other important measures including the human rights compensation act and amendments to the UP charter. This is the best proof of our willingness to put people's interests first, before unproductive discussions on which chamber had the better bill. No one gains with failure, while there will always be more than enough credit to share with success."
