Senator Mar Roxas on Trillanes, Cabinet Revamp and Social Payback

ON TRILLANES:

Our people's choice as stated clearly in the May 14 elections must prevail.

Senator Trillanes, by virtue of his nearly 12 million votes, should be allowed to attend all Senate functions including our afternoon sessions. He must be permitted to serve the people and the AFP should help him, not hinder him, from performing his new mandate. If this means taking the trouble of escorting him every day to and from the Senate then so be it. The people have spoken and we must respect their decision.

ON CABINET REVAMP:

The Palace must simply say this is the President's policy or decision, whatever that may be. Tapos. No more floating stories, testing the waters or urong-sulong. Our peole are tired of media games. They want to know -- and they deserve to know -- where we are really going.

The business sector is also confused. Uncertainty is the enemy of business. Speculation is the enemy of sound economic policy. All this uncertainty highlights the need for better processing of information within Palace circles. Complete staff work would help.

ON SOCIAL PAYBACK:

Where is the social payback on the economy? It is important that we show to the people where their heroic sacrifices have gone to. This is why we in the LP decided to make as our centerpiece agenda the need to invest RVAT revenues in specific areas to benefit the most number of people. We also tried but failed to pass the affordable medicines bill in the 13th Congress. We will sponsor that bill again, and now move as a party to make sure that this bill is passed.
