Sen. Escudero's statement on the on-going military offensive in Mindanao:

With the loss of many lives and displacement of thousands of civilians in the on-going conflict in Mindanao, the administration better make sure that this will lead to tangible and lasting results. I am sick and tired of the same old story being peddled by the administration many times over that they have "finally licked and put an end to the Abu Sayyaf and other lawless elements" only for the same old problem to resurrect over and over again. The administration should stop peddling lies and tell the people the real score. They should find long lasting and permanent solutions to the problem in Mindanao and not band-aid solutions. They should sack incompetent and disloyal officers, should there be any, and they should take extra care not to affect so much the lives and convenience of civilians caught in the crossfire.

One such solution is to enforce all laws regarding the carrying of firearms in Mindanao and implement a total gun ban in affected areas and not only when a problem arises and another is to investigate thoroughly all government officials, elected or appointed, for complicity with the enemy however close they may be to the administration party.

It is the sacred duty of government to protect the sanctity of every human life that is why this cannot and should not be an on and off thing and business as usual. Tangible results must be accomplished otherwise our valiant and gallant soldiers would have died in vain.

Sen. Escudero's statement on the BIR's plan to conduct lifestyle check on private individuals.

They should first perform lifestyle check on its own employees. BIR should first clean its own backyard.

Sa araw na ito ay ginugunita natin ang kaarawan ng yumaong si Fernando Poe, Jr o FPJ. Noong siya ay nabubuhay pa, sa pelikula o sa tunay na buhay man, binigyang halaga niya ang buhay ng ating mga kababayan, partikular na ang mga maliliit at mahihirap. Inilarawan niya sa kanyang mga pelikula ang buhay ng mga inaapi, ng mahirap, ng mga sundalo at pulis, ng mga kababayan natin sa Mindanao at ng ordinaryong Pilipino.

Inagaw man sa kanya ang pagkakataon na manilbihan bilang ating Pangulo dahil sa kuwestiyonableng resulta ng halalan noong 2004 at binawian man siya ng buhay sa maagang panahon, nawa'y hindi natin makalimutan at nawa'y isaisip, isapuso at isagawa natin ang mga sinimulan at ipinakita niyang adhikain at mithiin.
