While thanking cabinet members for attending Senate hearing on ZTE
VILLAR ASKS FOR ALL DOCUMENTS AND
NAMES OF INVOLVED IN THE NBN DEAL

Senate President Manny Villar asked the concerned cabinet members to furnish the Senate all the necessary documents from step one to the last on the controversial national broadband deal between the Philippine government and China's ZTE Corp. during the Senate hearing today.

Villar said, "We are asking for all pertinent documents on the ZTE, including the names of all those involved in this transaction, from the first step to the end of its implementation."

"At what point are we exactly in the contract?"

"We want to know the step-by-step procedure here," said Villar.

"We also want to know if there is any report from the Anti-Money Laundering Council on this which may indicate some movement of funds."

Villar stressed, "Public office is a public trust, and public officers must at all times be accountable to the people."

At the same time, the Senate President expressed gratitude to the cabinet members for their presence at the Senate hearing.

"We thank the cabinet officials for attending this Senate hearing which is all we ask for as a matter of respect to the institution," Villar said.
