UN REPORT ON SUMMARY EXECUTIONS
HAS GRAINS OF TRUTH -- PIMENTEL

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino "Nene" Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) today said the conclusion of the report of United Nations human rights rapporteur Dr. Philip Alston that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was behind the extra-judicial killings of political activists in the country is a grave indictment on the system of justice and law and order in the country which could have been prevented if only the Arroyo government has been forthright and sincere in addressing the problem.

"It's too sweeping but it has grains of truth to it because some generals and some soldiers are known domestically to gave engaged in extra-judicial killings and forced disappearances of political activists," Pimentel said.
