PRESS STATEMENT OF SENATOR MAR ROXAS ON MAKATI INCIDENT

"The administration should read the writing on the wall and think deeply about the roots of this indicent--the issues of justice, poverty, failed institutions and the people's powerlessness.

"This incident almost led to bloodshed, had it not been for the decision of Sen. Trillanes and company to stand down. Let them face the bar of justice, but not vengeance or unwarranted recrimination.

"At the same time I strongly warn the authorities against taking custody of media or any of their videos or equipment without due process. This is a clear violation of press freedom. Let the press do its job of covering events without fear or favor, and putting out the unvarnished truth."
