Kiamco is 1st Villar Cup champion
Villar congratulates Cebuano cue artist

Senate President Manny Villar today congratulated Cebu's Warren Kiamco for taking home the First Manny Villar Cup Billiards Tournament championship to wrap up five days of competition at the StarMall Sports Center in Alabang.

Kaya pala warrior ang tawag kay Kiamco, hindi siya nawawalan ng pag-asa, Villar said, after watching Kiamco bounced back from the early lead of Efren "Bata" Reyes and emerged as champion with the score of 11-6 in the finals. 

I congratulate Warren for earning the distinction of the first to win the Villar Cup. Pinahanga tayo ng mga Pinoy na manlalaro ng bilyar. What we witnessed today motivates us more to support billiards as a sport. I hope to see you all again in the next Villar Cup, he added.

In the Elite Professional division, Kiamco took home the prize money of P400,000 while Reyes bagged the P180,000 prize at second place. Landing in the third and fourth places were Gandy Valle and Lee Van Corteza, respectively with a prize money of P50,000 each.

Benson Palce, a native of Pila, Laguna emerged as the champion in the New Billiards Idol Sipag at Tiyaga Edition with a prize money of P200,000. Mike Bautista of Marikina received P80,000 at second place. Joey Pardales of Valenzuela City, and Ato Baliton of Plaridel, Bulacan each took home P30,000.
