Kiko to errant CA justices: Resign out of delicadeza!
"SC punishment not enough."

A day after the dismissal of Court of Appeals Justice Vicente Roxas, Senate Majority Leader and judicial reform advocate Kiko Pangilinan emphasized the Judiciary's urgent need to regain the confidence of the Filipino people. "The damage caused by this case on the judicial system's reputation cannot be ignored. It confirmed the existence of anomalies which were just mere speculations before," said the Senator.

"We welcome the swift disposition of the case by the SC. It sends a strong signal to our judges and lawyers that the SC will act swiftly in dealing with wrong doing in the judiciary. We however believe that in order for the Court of Appeals to start anew, those justices disciplined by the SC should seriously consider early retirement or resignation. While it is true that this is not necessary considering that they have been made to account for their acts, their making the supreme sacrifice will hasten the process of restoring the people's trust and confidence in the judiciary and the 2nd highest court of the land."

"As for the First Gentleman's lawyer, Atty. Jesus Santos, we hope the SC reconsiders its position and orders his investigation because as pointed out by PCGG Chair Camilo Sabio, it was at the behest of Santos that he called his brother, Justice Sabio.

Kiko demanded the Justices who got away with suspension, reprimand or admonishment to resign from their posts out of delicadeza.

"Now is the time to prove to the Filipino people that justice still prevails not only in the law but also among those tasked to implement them. Let us restore confidence and honor to the Judiciary. The best way to do this is to make the selection of justices more transparent and public. Providing the people more control over the choice of judicial officials is a step closer to restoring justice in the land
