PIMENTEL WINS NATIONALISM AWARD

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) has received the Benigno S. Aquino Award for Nationalism from the Federation of Catholic Schools Alumni Associations (FeCaSAA).

Pimentel was cited by the FeCaSAA for "his unwavering efforts in nation-building through judicious legislation, unblemished public service and virtuous advocacy."

"An accomplished barrister, educator, author, local executive, public administrator, national legislator, activist and a loving father and grandfather, Nene Pimentel has the sterling qualities of a true leader and advocate of nationalist issues," according to the award' citation.

The award was conferred on Pimentel by FeCaSAA Chairman, Bro. Rolando R. Dizon, and Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III in simple ceremonies held at the assembly hall of the National College of Public Administration and Governance at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City.

Former Senate President Jovito "Jovy" Salonga and former Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Solita "Winnie" Collas-Monsod were also recipients of the same prestigious award.

Pimentel, the acknowledged Father of Local Government Autonomy in the country, has now focused his attention on his long-time advocacy of adopting a federal system of government.
