KIKO CALLS ON BIG 3 ANEW FOR ONE-TIME BIG-TIME ROLLBACK; CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO PROTECT CONSUMERS

Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan today called on Shell, Petron and Caltex to give a one-time big-time rollback" on oil prices following the P3 riollback by independent players Unioil and Eastern Petroleum.

"We don't see any reason why the Big 3 can't give our consumers a big rollback, when other oil companies have already done so. It is time to yield to the demands of transport and consumer groups," Kiko said.

Kiko called for the 48-hour boycott of the big three oil companies in the country last month following their refusal to lower their prices despite the dramatic plummeting of international costs.

"The public is not stupid. There is no acceptable excuse for their refusal to grant a one-time big-time rollback. Inuunti-unti nila tayo, eh kung 'yung small players nga kayang magbaba ng isang bagsak, sila pa kaya? Ang problema sa kanila, 'pag nagtaasng presyo, biglaan. Pero bakit kapag dapat nang magbaba, dinadaan nila sa tingi-tingi?" Kiko asked.

"It is time for the big players to show some sensitivity to our consumers. They need to play their part during these hard times, and the first thing they should be doing is to give a one-time big-time rollback. We also challenge the government to step in and protect our consumers' interest because we cannot expect the Big 3 to do so," Kiko ended.
