Gordon lauds transformation of Sta. Rosa, Laguna into an industrial city

Independent Senator Richard "Dick" J. Gordon today lauded the transformation of Sta. Rosa, Laguna into a commercial and industrial city.

Gordon, chairman of the Senate committee on tourism, made the commendation during the 217th foundation day celebration of Sta. Rosa City , where he was invited as guest speaker.

"Santa Rosa City has achieved rapid growth and development in a short time owing to the influx of foreign investments, transforming the city into a lively commercial and industrial city," he said.

"The industrialization in the city has created jobs for its residents as well as for people from nearby towns and provinces. Investors and locators have chosen Santa Rosa because of its labor pool," he added.

With Sta. Rosa also celebrating the Sikhayan festival along with its foundation day, Gordon noted that the city could further create jobs and attract more investors in the city for continued progress by exploiting the benefits of tourism.

"Though Sta. Rosa has achieved economic growth through industrialization, it could still very well exploit the benefits of tourism and further create jobs as well as attract more investors in the city for continued progress," he said.

The Sikhayan Festival traces the rise of Santa Rosa from a community dependent for livelihood on aquatic and agricultural resources to one leading industrial growth.

"The Sikahayan Festival is an exemplary achievement and proof of what can be achieved with good governance and human resources. Everyone must be united, caring, compassionate, competitive, and confident for us to transform this nation," Gordon said.
