Zubiri hails the signing of P11.3 Billion poll automation
supplemental budget

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri today hailed the signing into law of the P11.3 billion supplemental budget for the automation of the 2010 elections.

Zubiri thanked and congratulated the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate for working closely and tediously for the passage of the measure which was signed into law by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

"The approval of the measure will be the legislative department's gift to the Filipino people in terms of the conduct of honest, orderly, peaceful and credible elections in 2010. And I think that it should be the legacy of the administration of President Macapagal-Arroyo.," Zubiri said.

The Majority Leader expressed hope that "the automation of the 2010 election will also help redeem the dwindling credibility of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in enforcing and implementing a clean, honest, orderly, credible and peaceful elections in the county.

He likewise reiterated his earlier challenge to the poll body to ensure that it gets the right equipment and right training to be able to proceed with the proper implementation of election automation.
