Gordon keynotes livelihood trainors' graduation rites

Independent Senator Richard J. Gordon will keynote today the graduation ceremonies of livelihood trainors who will help address the country's worsening unemployment problem due to the global financial crisis.

Gordon, a supporter of livelihood programs, was invited as guest of honor and speaker at the culmination program of the training of trainors under the Bigay-Buhay Para Sa Bagumbayan Program of the Simulaing Gabay sa Entrepinay (SIGE) Foundation.

The ceremony will be held today at the Batasan National High School, Covered court in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

The Bigay-Buhay programs aims to train women from various cities, provinces and municipalities nationwide on various livelihood technologies, in a bid to provide alternative employment to Filipinos, especially those who were affected by the global recession.

After the training, the graduates will go to the different barangays to conduct livelihood trainings, such as soap-making and meat processing..

This is the second training given by the SIGE this year, the first having been conducted in Caloocan last month.

The foundation is planning to conduct trainings in Manila, Olongapo and Nueva Ecija next.
