Transcript of Senate Majority Leader's manifestation
at the Committee of the Whole

"I also express my trust and confidence to the leadership of the Senate President as presiding officer of the Committee of the whole.

"I have not seen a more competent presiding officer, dealing with a committee that's handling a case that's deals with rules of procedure and legality. He has shown his professionalism and utmost fairness.

"As mentioned earlier by a colleague, Senator Mar, many times when the few session that we had the minority present, we had even voted together with them to show impartiality. That we, senators will make decisions using our conscience, using our knowledge of the case, unfortunately it has gone dirty and the names have been called. And I completely respect the stand of the Senate President not to continue handling the case.

"But as shown today, signed by 13 of our colleagues that we reject the idea that he step down as presiding officer because he has been a very competent and fair presiding officer. We are here to show the vote of our trust and confidence to the Senate President. And with that I would just like to say that I reject the notion that the Senate President steps down as Presiding Officer of the Committee of the Whole."
