ROXAS, TELEDEVELOPMENT OFFER 'Callcenter Jobs MARket'

Following up on the success of his Job-Seekers' Camp, Liberal President Senator Mar Roxas has linked up with a top call center company to sponsor a jobs fair aimed at helping hundreds of thousands of fresh college graduates penetrate the business process outsourcing industry.

Roxas met with at least 20 leaders of the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry which he started when he was still Secretary of Trade and Industry at the Expo Centro in Cubao to take up further expansion of the industry as demand for Philippine BPO operations continue to grow.

"Equal opportunities should be available to all but this administration has ignored the jobless. Let us take up the challenge and work together to make life better for the marginalized, for the unemployed," he said.

He said that with most of the hundreds of thousands of university students who graduated this year now prowling the streets of urban cities to look for potential work employments, even a simple assistance from the government would already have a significant impact.

Roxas cited the huge turnout in a job assistance training camp he sponsored this summer in coordination with various colleges and universities nationwide, where lines of fresh college graduates showed up to get tips on how to secure jobs.

As a follow-up to this, Roxas linked up with top call-center firm TeleDevelopment Services Inc. for a Jobs Fair dubbed as the "Callcenter Jobs MARket" today from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., following the nocturnal schedule of call center companies.

Job-seekers have been invited to come and bring their resumes to the Cubao Expo Center in front of Farmers Market at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City for on-site applications, interviews, testing and actual job offers. There is no dress code and applicants can come in casual attire.

Applicants should have had at least two years of any college course, must be conversant in English, willing to work on a shifting schedule, and is customer-service oriented to qualify.
