Senate media picks Villar in mock polls

Sen. Manny Villar, the Nacionalista Party's standard bearer for the presidential elections next year, was the top pick of members of the press covering the Senate beat in a mock polls conducted today.

Villar was very happy when he learned of the results, saying the Senate media has first-hand knowledge of his performance as a senator and of his work for his advocacies.

"Their choice is an informed choice," he said.

Of the 32 reporters who participated in the secret balloting, 12 said they would vote for Villar as president.

Sen. Francis Escudero of the Nationalist People's Coalition placed second with 8 votes, followed by Sen. Jamby Madrigal with 7.

Liberal Party's presidential bet Sen. Noynoy Aquino was at the fourth place with 4 votes and Sen. Loren Legarda at fifth place with 1 vote.
