ROXAS ON LEGARDA'S ENTRY TO VP RACE: "GOOD LUCK"

Sen. Mar Roxas today welcomed the entry of colleague Sen. Loren Legarda in the vice presidential contest for the 2010 national elections.

"This move by Senator Loren Legarda is an expected political development. Finally the senator found a home in Senator Villar," said Roxas, who will be the Liberal Party's vice-presidential bet next year.

"We can expect the vice presidential race to be very interesting," added Roxas, who is the front-runner in recent surveys among vice presidential candidates conducted by reputable polling organizations.

"I believe in the capability of the Filipino people to choose who is the most trustworthy and best qualified among the candidates. I know this election will be anchored on who has the strongest platform," the Visayan senator also said.

Legarda was named the running-mate of Sen. Manuel Villar for the 2010 elections after her seemingly endless search for a presidential bet to run with.

Legarda was expected to be the running-mate of Sen. Chiz Escudero until the latter announced his resignation from the Nationalist People's Coalition. She was also rumored to have had engaged in talks with other presidential candidates, including Lakas-Kampi-CMD's Gilbert Teodoro.
