Gordon to publishers' group:
Wake up and do your role of giving right information

Olongapo City - Senator Richard Gordon has reminded publishers that they have a vital role in ensuring that the people will vote wisely in the May 2010 presidential elections.

Gordon, speaking at the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) national convention, underscored the key role of the media in next year's elections which is to arm voters with the correct information about the candidates so they can choose based on performance, character and integrity; and not on money and pedigree.

"Wake up PAPI.

If the people are advised by media, with their wealth of information, we can trust the people to make the right decision.

Gordon is running for president under the Bagumbayan - Volunteers for a New Philippines party. Former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando is his vice president.

They adopted the moniker the "Transformers" for their partnership, a fusion of two achievers who aim to transform the hearts and minds of the people to build character and communities to create a better Philippines.

Gordon stressed that the Philippines is facing immense challenges that call for the right kind of leaders if the country is to overcome these challenges and take its place among the world's great nations.

Hence, people should choose the country's next leaders with discernment because next year's elections will be the turning point for the nation.
