FILIPINO VOTERS TRUST ROXAS OVERWHELMINGLY
TRUST RATINGS OF LEGARDA GOING DOWN CONTINUOUSLY

Filipinos overwhelmingly trust and support vice-presidential race frontrunner and Liberal Party candidate Senator Mar Roxas, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey.

In its survey conducted between January 22 to 26 this year among 1,800 respondents, Pulse Asia said Roxas garnered the reputation as the most trusted public official among all candidates running for national positions in the May 10 elections.

Seventy-three percent (73%) of Filipino voters said they have "much trust" for Roxas, up from 69% who said they had "much trust" for him when asked the same question in February last year.

On the other hand, less and less Filipinos said they trust Senator Loren Legarda, who got only a 61% trust rating in January compared to the 70% trust rating she received in February 2009.

The number of Filipino voters who said they have "little" or "no trust" at all for Legarda also rose consistently to 17% in January 2010 compared to only 8% who said so in February 2009.

Roxas recorded majority trust ratings in every geographic area and socio-demographic groups, with figures ranging from 55% in the Davao region (Region 11) to 87% in the Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9), in SOCCSKSARGEN (Region 12) and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Also in the same Pulse Asia survey, a great majority of the respondents also trusted Roxas' presidential running mate, LP standard-bearer Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, who got a 64% rating.
