ANGARA LEADS GROUNDBREAKING OF ECO-FRIENDLY
CLASSROOM BUILDING IN AURORA

Baler, Aurora - With the vision of providing the students of Aurora with an eco-friendly venue for learning, Senator Edgardo J. Angara today announced the construction of a two-storey classroom building at the Aurora National Science High School (ANSHS) during its groundbreaking ceremony.

"This two-storey building is designed to be flood-resistant and environment-friendly as it will feature elevated floors, raised 1.15m above existing ground line. It can also serve as a refugee shelter during flood conditions," Angara said.

Designed by the country's top architects, Arch. Danilo Silvestre of the UP College of Architecture and Arch. Ruth Espina, the said building which costs P16 million will be built alongside the existing covered court of ANSHS and will provide six (6) standard-sized classrooms.

Utilizing the concept of 'Green Architecture', the building features an aero-dynamic roof configuration designed to protect the classroom from intense heat or rain. It also provides natural ventilation since the site is adequately cooled by the presence of water below the surface of the ground, as well as the trees in the direct vicinity, thus, the natural air-conditioning effect can be channeled into the classrooms.

The project is the brainchild of Senator Angara, with financial support from the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc. (FFCCCI) and the Senator's budget.
