STATEMENT OF SEN. MAR ROXAS ON THE DEATH
OF FORMER BUDGET SEC. EMILIA BONCODIN

Liberal President Senator Mar Roxas today condoled with the family of former Budget Secretary Emilia Boncodin, who passed away this afternoon due to cardiac arrest.

"I express my deep sorrow over the death of a reformer. My deepest sympathies to her family," Roxas said.

"Emy was a good friend. Her passing robs our nation of a bright mind who remained loyal to her principles of good governance and efficient government," he added.

Boncodin died at the National Kidney Institute in Quezon City. She had been undergoing dialysis for months.

Boncodin was among the Cabinet officials of President Arroyo who resigned at the height of the "Hello Garci" cheating scandal. The group came to be collectively known as the 'Hyatt 10.'
