Aquino: Many volunteering for commission to probe Arroyo scandals

ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan - Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Noynoy Aquino said on Tuesday that many people are starting to volunteer for a commission he proposed that will look into "Hello Garci" and other unresolved cases of the Arroyo government,

"I understand there have been a lot of volunteers already who would want to man that particular commission. They want to go after all these cases that have been left hanging," Aquino said in a press conference here.

Aquino earlier said he will form a commission to look into pending cases of corruption and state abuses by the present administration.

These include the "Hello Garci" scandal that indicated cheating in the 2004 elections, the P728-million fertilizer fund scam involving former agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn Bolante, and the $328.49-million ZTE broadband network deal mess.

Aquino said if they will be able to unearth enough proof of guilt, necessary sanctions will be imposed and justice will be met.

"The commission will provide the mechanism that will close all of these pending issues," he said. "Otherwise we will not learn the lessons that should be learned as to how the system was abused."
