Villar assures Pasay folk of all-out support

Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Sen. Manny Villar has assured the people of Pasay City of all-out support if he is elected president.

Villar attended Sunday the proclamation rally of the party's local candidates in Pasay City led by mayoral bet Mayor Wenceslao "Peewee" Trinidad and the latter's running-mate Greg Alcera.

NP's vice presidential candidate Sen. Loren Legarda and senatorial aspirants Pia Cayetano, Susan "Toots" Ople, Gwen Pimentel, Martin Querubin (representing Col. Ariel Querubin), and Adel Tamano also addressed the Pasay crowd of about 20,000.

In his speech, Villar talked about his close ties not only with Pasayenos but also with Trinidad as he stood as one of the sponsors in the mayor's wedding to Nelfa. "Bukod sa aking bayaw sa Las Piñas, si Mayor Peewee ay isa sa mga pinakamalapit sa aking mayor," said Villar.

"Mayor Peewee and the city of Pasay are assured of the support of the National Government under a Villar administration. Pareho ang aming adhikain na maiahon sa hirap ang mga tao," added Villar.

Trinidad's ticket includes re-electionist Rep. Jose Antonio Roxas, together with its slate for councilors for the First District of Pasay: Lexter Ibay, Charlie Chavez, Florencio Mateo, Abet Alvina, Let-Let Landagan and Pinky Lyn Francisco. The lineup for the 2nd district includes Edith Vergel de Dios, Jim Baliad, Janet Protacio, Ileana Ibay, Manny Cinco and Monty Veluz.

In her speech, Legarda also said she has known Trinidad long way back as the mayor's daughter Anna was her classmate in high school and college.

Meanwhile, Trinidad recalled his friendship and alliance with Sen. Aquilino Pimentel and the late senators Rene Cayetano and Blas Ople - the fathers of NP senatorial bets Gwen, Pia, and Toots, respectively. Trinidad is seeking for a second term as mayor of Pasay.
