LEGARDA GETS SUPPORT OF PAMPANGA LOCAL LEADERS, MUSLIM ULAMAS AND BRGY HEALTH WORKERS

San Fernando -- NP-NPC-LDP vice presidential bet Loren Legarda yesterday gained more solid votes from administration bailiwick Pampanga, proving once more that she is able to transcend party lines in earning support.

In a multi-sectoral consultation meeting, Congresswoman Anna York Bondoc (4th district), Guagua Mayor Rodolfo "Rudy" Reyes, BHW President Baby Mangulabnan and Imam League of Pampanga Chairman Imam Abdul Cana strongly endorsed Legarda as their VP candidate for the May 10 polls.

Bondoc said she believes in Legarda's platform of government which serves the poorest of the poor. She also lauded Legarda's climate change advocacy.

The Barangay Health Workers are solid behind Legarda, who has called on Congress to amend RA-7305, or the Magna Carta of Public Health Workers, in order to address the issue of low allowances provided by LGUs. Legarda said government should fully recognize BHWs as public servants by providing them the right compensation and benefits.

The Muslim Ulamas also gave their full support to Legarda, who has been given the Bai a Labi or honorary Marawi princess title for her efforts in promoting the Islamic culture and the rights of its people.

Also present in the event are vice mayoralty candidate Jocelyn Ong of Floridablanca; vice mayoralty bet Dexter Albert David and councilors of Nationalist People's Coalition in the province.

Meanwhile, Legarda ordered her Regional Provincial Officer in Central Luzon to remove all the campaign posters and streamers posted on the trees.

Loren, UN's Regional Champion for Asia Pacific on disaster Risk and Climate Change Adaptation, urges all her political officers to avoid posting campaign materials on the trees.
