Press Release April 26, 2010 ROXAS STILL TOP CHOICE AMONG VP BETS Liberal Party (LP) vice-presidential bet and frontrunner Senator Mar Roxas II still emerged as the top pick among vice-presidentiables, according to two separate opinion polls conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) and Manila Standard Today (MST). The SWS survey, conducted last April 16-19 and made exclusive to BusinessWorld, showed Roxas most likely to get elected for vice-president after scoring 39%. Roxas obtained a 14-point lead against Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay who got 25%. "Nagpapasalamat ako sa ating mga kababayan sa patuloy na pagtitiwala at pagsuporta sa ating kandidatura. Isusulong natin ang malinis na pamamalakad sa gobyerno upang makamit na ang matagal na inaasam na pagbabago para sa ating bayan (I am deeply grateful to our people who continue to trust and support my candidacy. Rest assured that we will push for good governance to end the sufferings of our people and lead this nation into genuine change)," Roxas said. Senator Loren Legarda placed third with 24%, followed by former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Bayani Fernando with 3%, actor / TV host Edu Manzano, 2%; former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Perfecto Yasay, 1%; news anchor Jay Sonza, 0.4% and Dominador Chipeco 0.3%. The SWS survey polled 2,400 registered voters. It has a margin of error of +/- 2%.
In the MST survey conducted last April 18-20, still, Roxas obtained 41% among 2,500 respondents, while Legarda garnered only 23% for an 18-point lead in favor of the LP vice-presidential bet. Legarda had 23%, Binay got 22%, Fernando got 3% while Manzano scored 2% in the MST poll.
